Sources for this data

  • Coordinates, address matching and census geography come from the U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder; FCC market areas and block population from the FCC Area API. Elevation of the ground: FCC terrain data. NAD27 and UTM: the National Geodetic Survey at NOAA (NADCON 5).
  • FM zones are set by §73.205. The Mississippi River divides K and W call letters (§73.3550(e)) and the power tables for FM translators (§74.1235(b)). FM stations less than 320 km from Mexico or Canada are governed by the international agreements (§73.207(b)); boosters and translators in that zone have separate limits (§74.1235(d)).
  • The borders, the river and zone lines are plotted from simplified public map data, so any site near a line is flagged for confirmation.
